An update on BeeGee

Memorial Day
I'm leaving work at noon today to start off the July 4th Weekend!  Yesterday was the last day I stitched on BeeGee for the week, updated photo below.  I didn't stitch anything else this week though I did kit up the little Donald Duck I want to stitch for James.  I will try to start and finish it this weekend though the wheels are in motion for a weekend away.  More on that next week!  Not sure how much stitching time I'll be getting in.

For those playing TRIVIA.  I'm sorry to say for the time being, due to various factors, I will cease giving out prizes.  It may change in the near or far future, but for now I hope you enjoy playing the trivia enough to keep playing!  I started a few months ago and I do enjoy it in the mornings.  Nothing like sharpening the 'ol noggin!

Have a great 4th of July!!!!

Our weekend was nice. We took James to see the movie Up in 3D.  We went into the theater expecting to last maybe 1/2 hour...but we made it 1hr and 15 mins before he got really antsy.  He actually was great up to the time we left, it was maybe 2 mins where I saw he was just bored and I took him out of the theater and let Philip watch the rest...though he left a little after us.  I did have him on my lap so I could interact with him a little.  He's 3 and 5 months and I really didn't expect him to last as long as he did.  At home he rarely watches more than 1/2 hour of Mickey Mouse or the Wiggles and forget any Disney movies, I'm lucky he catches the opening credits before he's back to playing or wanting to go outside.  Who am I to complain though, I think this is a good thing. I want to give him the opportunity though to watch a movie on the big screen.  I think by next summer he should be better at staying through the whole film; just in time for Toy Story 3!  I can't wait for this film - in 3D too!

I didn't stitch much over the weekend. I wanted to, but I kept doing everything BUT picking up my stitching so last night after James was in bed I got really busy with this piece and voila, it's done!  I have to admit though I put on the heart button this morning, I was really tired by 11:30pm and had I tried to put the heart on I'm afraid it would have been upside down!  Pressed it this morning and here it is!  I love this one, I like that it's a little wider than Bless the Baby.  Off to Vonna it will go!

Here's BeeGee as of Thursday last week.  (I didn't stitch on her on Friday, I took 1/2 day at work)
Back to stitching on her today though.

I also finished Friday Night Lights Season 1 last week. What an awesome show!  Does anyone else watch this?  It's like finding a little gem on TV!  I'm going to start season 2 today.  One episode at lunchtime during the week and I'll have it done by the end of July...nice.
I also started Season 1 of Family Guy.  I  never caught onto this show until last season and it's hilarious.  I don't even know how many seasons are out, but I think enough to keep me busy for a while - at least until the Fall shows come out. So far none of the summer shows look interesting to me.

James got a much needed haircut over the weekend.  Daddy got him some really funky glasses as well.  I will keep my opinion of them to myself.  He does have better pairs...;)

Have a great week!  I'm working 3 - maybe 3 1/2 days because of Independence Day on Friday!
Happy Birthday America!

Chessie & Me Freebie

  • Jun. 21st, 2009 at 6:58 PM
Calvin and Hobbs
We had a very short time frame of sunshine today.  We sat outside today for maybe 2 hours when it started to cloud over again and the raindrops started to fall. Honestly, will the rain ever stop?

I finished a Chessie & Me freebie and picked up the Lizzie Kate's "Welcome Baby" from the framers.
Pictures below.

I think this week I'll either stitch up a quick Donald Duck for James or Blessings to the Graduate for a coworker who's daughter graduated High School this year.  It's already late, what's another few weeks, right?

I'm sorry this is so short, but I really have nothing else worth blogging about...like I said before I wonder sometimes if I should bother with a blog because honestly who comes to visit, but then again I like having a chronological history of my stitching...

Like many others are experiencing this summer is starting off pretty...rough...lots of rain, clouds, cool weather.  I don't tell many people this, but hey in blogland I'll shout it out from the roof rafters....YIPPPPPEEEEE - NO HEAT AND HUMIDITY!  I LOVEEEEE IT!
Ahhhhh - that felt good.  I spent this week attempting to stitch on the Chessie & Me freebie called Flower & Bird, but I kept getting sidetracked by Bejeweled Blitz on Facebook...I seriously need an intervention!  Well I'm taking another 1/2 day today and I plan on stitching this afternoon (whilst doing laundry - oh the joy...NOT)...but at least I will shut the laptop down and stitch...I want to finish this piece today and not leave it as a QSW...I want to start something new tomorrow for that!

I don't have this back yet, but it's a photo Vonna took of the Welcome Baby piece from Lizzie Kate all finished up...isn't it wonderful!??!  I love the photo slot in the back...

And finally a new photo of BeeGee with this weeks stitching...

New iPhone (3Gs) is being released today. We ordered ours last weekend and it's waiting for us at the AT&T store. Either tonight or tomorrow we'll go pick it up.  I can't wait to get my hands on it and play around with the video camera...I know quality won't be great, but how cool to be able to upload the video directly to YouTube!  Apple seriously kicks ass!

Whew...I did it

I REALLY didn't think I would manage to finish this piece as a QSW, but I DID!  Yeah for me!  Ra Ra Ra!  Seriously, as I was stitching it I realized it's not really that large, and once I got to the "baby" working my way down I just knew it only needed another 1-2 hours of serious stitching.  Charting out the name and date was really what took the longest.

James has been suffering from ear infections and a cold since Thursday night, so Friday I kept him home.  He is back at daycare today though and on the road to recovery.  We also are resuming potty training today.  I didn't have the heart to force the subject when he was having a 103F fever & feeling lousy with the ear pain.

Philip had some work over the weekend (check out the new Toys.com site - it's a daily deals site from ToysRUs.com - bookmark it and check it out every day!), the rain didn't want to stop and James not feeling well...it just meant that we had a nice weekend at home and I got some stitching done.

We did manage to go out Saturday to look at cars.  I want to trade in my Tahoe for something new, but the question is what because not much is floating my boat out there right now.

I think I will start a Chessie and Me freebie tonight...we'll see!

...and what happened to summer?  It seems like we have days of temps in the 60's and 70's, rain, fog and the odd day of sunshine with temps maybe in the 80's, but seriously...if this is summer - fine by me!  I hate the heat and humidity!

So here's the latest pic of Bee Gee....

Can you make out that it's a doggy now?  :)
I still have 2 more finishes to show off...and finally here's # 12!

This is Love Grows by Stone and Thread. I stitched it in the fall of last year.
I love how Vonna finished it!  One more to show off - yippppeeeee!
That's really all I got for today.  We're still potty training, James has a cold, Philip is soooo busy with work
with new projects...I'm slowly starting to look at a new car, but can't decide because I love my Tahoe, but the
future of GM puts me in a bit of a quandry....I would hate to be stuck getting the car serviced because
my dealer closes up or I have to drive miles and miles to get it taken care of, but I really don't like
many  other cars out there...I'm itching to go away, but the next few weekends I know are taken up with potty training and Philip working,
so just need to get through it and think about going away in a few weeks...or even end of the summer...is it me or is this  year flying by...I mean seriously in a few weeks NFL players start training camps...if not already and ummmm...yeah - Christmas merchandise will be in the stores very very soon!  Did you start your Christmas stitchng yet?  ;)

Restful weekend

Over all I had a very restful weekend. I did manage to take 1/2 day off from work on Friday to get some things accomplished before the weekend officially began, this gave me some extra time to relax, play with James and of course get that potty training squared away.  We aren't even over a hump yet and I see no light at the end of this tunnel, but we did see a glimmer of hope earlier this evening when I said, "c'mon let's go potty", he didn't fight me, but got up and headed to the bathroom...once he realized what was happening though he did whine and complain.  Also I did have to hold his tush to the seat.  He has a pretty nice prize when he has this potty training under wraps...I'll share that with you when he finally is out of diapers.  He knows about his gift too, but he's Stubborn with a capital "S"....hmmm - must run in the family!  LOL!

I happily finished up the May floss tag this weekend!  Yeah me!

The Needle's Content May floss tag

That's all I got at the moment.  Not sure what I'm going to stitch next, but hopefully I'll have a finish later this week!
Here's a photo of James from over the weekend; enjoying some yummy ice cream from Friendly's.

Baby Sampler is DONE!

"Welcome Baby" by Lizzie Kate stitched on
28 ct Graziano soft rose/white gingham linen
                                   using  WDW/GAST

This sampler is for the Director of daycare. She had her second baby girl.  Back in 2007 I stitched the same design for her daughter Charlie.  It was a really small design, but for some reason I couldn't get motivated to stitch on it.  It is the third time stitching it, but still...it wasn't like I stitched it back to back or even all the same color (one was for a boy)...it was just one of those designs you wanted to get done, but couldn't see yourself to stitching it.  I did bring this to work on Mon & Tsdy to chart out the name and birthdate so BeeGee took a backseat for 2 days, but today I'm picking her back up.  At home I think I'll either start on the latest May floss tag from the Needle's Content or another Lizzie Kate either Bless the Baby or Bless the Graduate...depending on what fabric I find first for which design. They all need to get done this month so it doesn't much matter which one I begin first.

In other news:  We're going to see the Wiggles in August. I am so excited because James had such a fun time when we went last summer.  Now with him being older he may enjoy it even more so!  I'm using it as a ploy to get him potty trained. Yes folks, my boy is over 3 (3 years and 3 months) and every few weeks I begin again and he fights me tooth and nail to keep those pullups on.  I then back off a week or two and start again.  We are going to try again on Friday night; this time with a ceremonial "Pullups are going into the trash" show.  Also I told him the Wiggles had called him and were looking for potty trained boys to play with them.  I told him that there was no potty trained boys here so they should call someone else...and I told James, please don't get potty trained because I don't want you to play with the Wiggles (little reverse psychology)...I'm keeping up with this...if it works I can take him to Wiggles World at Great Adventure as his big prize.  He did finally sit on the toilet on his own last night and this morning...we're making more headway than weeks past...but whew...this has been the hardest one yet.  Walking, talking, eating solids, even going to a big bed...not an ounce of struggling...this one is one long struggle!

I only have May's to do until I'm caught up on this series.  June won't be released until the middle/end of the month.  I'm so happy I'm almost caught up with these, I didn't want them slipping me by, they really are cute and fun to stitch up!

Guess what's next? The dreaded baby sampler...I don't know what it is, I can't get motivated to finish it.  I need some special stitching faeries to sprinkle stitching dust over my fingers to finish this one up already!

Where I found time to stitch this weekend is beyond me.  The entire weekend was one big whirl and we didn't even do anything major or memorable, though for James just being together and putzing around is memorable, right?  We did some shopping, we ate out, we ran some errands, we hung out at home out on the deck and played with James, we had BBQ, we ate out, we took a drive to the Hudson River (NJ side) and watched the military vessels for fleet week in NYC...we went to a fun Japanese grocery store.  It was a great weekend all around.

Back to stitching BeeGee again and I am seriously determined to finish up the L*K baby sampler this week!!!!  Determined!

Hot diggity dog!

Memorial Day

It's been about 2 weeks since my last WIP photo of BeeGee, so here you go!  Doesn't look too much like a dog, but at least it's not a big blob of grays and browns either!  It's so nice to get projects worked on during lunchtime!  Nice to be able to relax for 30-45 mins and get some stitches in, really revives me for the rest of the workday...

I have two more finishes to show from my stack of finishes I received a few weeks ago from Vonna...I'll do that this week.  I only have 2 hours left of work and then I'm dropping my dad off at the airport and heading home for a wonderful 3 day weekend.  We have no plans...none, zero...so we're going to take each day as it comes and let fate take it's course!  Nice right?  Ahhhhh...lovely.

I read the book Twilight way before the frenzy hit everyone...truth be told I wasn't that impressed and didn't understand the craziness.  I didn't even watch the movie Twilight yet!  Lately though I've been a little more intrigued about what happened to Bella next in New Moon so I decided to download it through Kindle/iPhone and well...I'm hooked!  It's still not high up there like other books I've read and re read, but it has definitely kept my interest.  My problem is the time it takes to read.  I read 4-5 books at a time. I have a book next to my bed, downstairs by the sofa where I sit, in my car, at work and on my phone now.  Crazy I know...somehow I can keep track of them all...I do read many different genres, so this may be why.  Anyhow, I saw the new poster for New Moon the movie was released.  Not having seen Twilight (the movie) it's hard for me to envision these 3 as Bella, Edward and Jacob, but I'm sure once I see the movie all that will change!

Maybe I'll try to rent Twilight this weekend from iTunes...whatever your weekend brings...ENJOY!

A weekend finish

  • May. 17th, 2009 at 10:39 PM
As I'm heading off to bed a quick post to show off my QSW (Quick Stitch Weekend).  I need to do something to revive my stitching mojo as well as get a few more smallish designs finished for 2009.
This is the Feb Floss Tag by the Needle's Content.  I stitched January's and plan on stitching March and April the next two weekends.  May should be released next few days...

You know this design looks like it takes a lot more colors than it does (only 3), but with the color variation of the Gentle Art Sampler Threads it gives off many colors within the reddish range.  Pretty!  Can you believe next weekend is Memorial Day weekend!?

Here's finish #11
The design is a freebie The Sampler Girl.  You can find it here:  at Plimoth
Vonna did the finishing and I simply love it!  She's so talented!!!

Now how about some more cute, quick freebies:  Trail Creek Farms

It's been some weather week.  Rain rain and more rain.  I'm downright sick of it...but as much as I hate the rain I am not looking forward to June/July and Aug...the older I get the more I loathe the heat and humidity of the summer.  But what could I do other than move?  Not much.
I've been keeping busy with James, some season finales on TV, work and life in general.  Not a lot of stitching going on.  I did start on BeeGee and have her chest done a little...so far I'm enjoying it.  Looks like a blob of white and greys, but I know with these sorts of charts they seem to all come together.  That's all I got today.  Might go to Great Adventure this weekend; weather permitting.
